"…The sea smiles far-off"

The exhibition of the artist and ceramicist Tori Grosu will be held from May 23 to June 23, 2025 at the Dom Boutique Hotel.

The sea
smiles far-off.
Spume-teeth,
sky-lips.

'What do you sell, troubled child,
child with naked breasts?'

'Sir, I sell
salt-waters of the sea.'

'What do you carry, dark child,
mingled with your blood?'

'Sir, I carry
salt-waters of the sea.'

These lines from Federico García Lorca's poem "The Ballad of the Salt-Water" are more than a hundred years old. Today, the poem by the Spanish poet has not accidentally reminded us of itself: it has amazingly reflected the idea of our heroine, becoming both a prologue and an epilogue to the new exhibition of the artist and ceramist Tori Grosu.

The unique author's style allows us to feel what is hidden beyond the everyday view, but still exists. The work of Tori Grosu reminds us of this, allowing us to touch something mysterious and sacred.

The sea has always fascinated and inspired the artist. This theme seems to be an inexhaustible source of meaning, because the sea is the cradle of life, and water is a symbol of the endless flow of being and wisdom. That is why the leitmotif of the exhibition was the sea and marine life - obvious and invisible, ancient, amazing and diverse.

The exhibition will present both graphic works in which the artist uses his favorite technique of monotype spot, and ceramic panels in the author’s watercolor and sgraffito techniques.
